Not going to lie, I kind of already knew what to expect; I watched the Netflix show.
But, I had also made the mistake of reading Six of Crows a few years ago thinking it was unrelated. Was I super stoked when I recognized characters from that series? Yes. Was it enjoyable to meet the characters that started it all? Also yes.
Do I really, really dislike the Darkling? Way more than I disliked him in the show. This character needs strung up. By his toes.
The world is quite rich, but the book literally took me one day to listen to at 1x speed. I was already familiar and it's less than nine and a half hours.
It was also a nice little palate cleanser from what I'd read thus far in 2025. Worth it.
