Review: The Devil Colony

The Devil Colony The Devil Colony by James Rollins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I listened to a full length version read by Peter Jay Fernandez, via my local library and the Hoopla app.

The ensemble is back and Painter can't stay behind his desk. I've never seen a department director more loathe to stay out of the field. This time it was understandable though. His people and his niece are involved. Gray & his shadow from The Guild are becoming closer. Don't get me started on his parents. Monk and Kat with a new baby? Lord Almighty, this crew of characters keeps getting bigger!!

Rollins got even better with writing his world's atmosphere, and there were great descriptions of the indigenous lands. The writing was once again his stellar and linear content.

This time, the overall plot was incredibly farfetched on the science side, but I didn't exactly research it. The scavenger hunt through history, my bread & butter, was great. Another quick read/listen because I didn't want to stop.

I didn't need to go back and reread anything because the progression was nicely paced with very little to muck up comprehension of the tale.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about Painter's personality and how he came to be the way he is. It was a good entry into the series and progressed the world plot.
